CISA published advisory ICSMA-17-082-02 on March 23, 2017, for an open redirect in B. Braun's SpaceStation with the SpaceCom module. The flaw is tracked as CVE-2017-6018 (CWE-601) with a CVSS v3 base score of 5.4. Two configurations are listed: SpaceStation part number 8713140U with an installed SpaceCom module (part number 8713160U), and SpaceStation with SpaceCom integrated as part number 8713142U, both on software earlier than 012U000040.

Per the advisory, the web server accepts untrusted input that can redirect a request to an unintended URL carried inside that input. An open redirect lets an attacker build a link that starts at the trusted device address and lands somewhere else, which is the setup step for phishing a clinical user or a biomed technician into a fake login page.

The vector requires user interaction (UI:R) and gives only low confidentiality and integrity impact, so this is a medium finding on its own. It still says something about how the embedded web server treats parameters. B. Braun's mitigation in the advisory is a pointer to its software distribution site at ftp.bbmus.com.

Any parameter that controls a redirect on a device web server should be checked against an allowlist of internal paths. Free-form URLs in that slot are a standing invitation.
