Baxter Spectrum Wireless Battery Module carries the Ripple20 flaws in Digi Net+OS

Baxter published a bulletin on June 16, 2020, under ICS advisory ICSA-20-168-01. The Treck TCP/IP stack in the Digi Net+OS operating system used in all versions of the Spectrum Wireless Battery Module contains the Ripple20 vulnerabilities. The bulletin lists 19 CVEs, CVE-2020-11896 through CVE-2020-11914.

An October 2024 update to the bulletin provides the latest Digi patch for CVE-2020-11901.

Apply the Digi patch for CVE-2020-11901 that Baxter delivered in its October 2024 bulletin update to every Spectrum Wireless Battery Module. Keep the pumps' wireless network separate from general hospital traffic for the remaining Ripple20 exposure.

Apply the Digi patch. Update every Spectrum Wireless Battery Module with the patch in Baxter's October 2024 update.
Isolate the pump WLAN. Put Spectrum pumps on an SSID and VLAN reserved for infusion devices.
Track the module firmware. Record the Net+OS version per module so later Digi patches can be matched.
