Baxter published a product security bulletin on December 11, 2019, stating that ExactaMix EM1200 versions v1.1 and v1.2 and ExactaMix EM2400 versions v1.10 and v1.11 run on Windows operating systems impacted by the SMBv1 remote code execution vulnerabilities that Microsoft patched under MS17-010.

MS17-010 covers flaws in the Windows SMBv1 file sharing service that let an unauthenticated attacker who can reach the service run code on the host. Baxter's answer is a platform change: ExactaMix v1.4 for the EM1200 and v1.13 for the EM2400 use Windows 10 and disable SMBv1.

A compounder on the pharmacy network is a Windows host first. Units still on the older builds belong on the upgrade schedule this quarter.
