Terumo BCT confirms Vista Information System is susceptible to Oracle Database component flaws

Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies published a bulletin on May 4, 2021 confirming that the Vista Information System is susceptible to Oracle Database Component vulnerabilities. Affected configurations are Vista Information System v4.2 with Oracle 12c and v4.2.1 with Oracle 19c. The CVEs listed are CVE-2021-2035, CVE-2021-2018, CVE-2021-2054, CVE-2021-2116, CVE-2021-2117, CVE-2021-1993, CVE-2021-2045 and CVE-2021-2000.

Customers who maintain patches independently of Terumo should take the necessary actions to maintain the system's security posture. Shared patch ownership is where database fixes go missing, so settle in writing who applies Oracle patches to each Vista install.

Vista Information System v4.2 and v4.2.1 inherit eight Oracle Database Component CVEs. Customers who patch independently of Terumo BCT need to apply the Oracle fixes themselves. Others should confirm Terumo BCT's patch plan.

Confirm patch ownership. Establish whether Terumo BCT or your team applies Oracle patches to each Vista install.
Apply Oracle fixes. If you patch independently, apply the Oracle updates addressing the eight listed CVEs.
Restrict database access. Allow connections to the Vista Oracle database only from Vista application hosts.
