Philips posted a notice on May 23, 2024 on CVE-2024-22439, a vulnerability in HPE FlexFabric and FlexNetwork series switches. It could be exploited to gain privileged access to the switches and disclose information. IntelliSpace PACS is the listed product.

The switch is part of the PACS deployment, which puts network gear inside a medical device advisory. Whoever controls the switch can mirror or redirect image traffic. Treat the infrastructure that ships with a clinical system as part of that system's attack surface.

Update the HPE FlexFabric or FlexNetwork switches in the IntelliSpace PACS environment to the HPE fixed firmware for CVE-2024-22439, coordinated with Philips. Restrict switch management to an administrator network.

Find the switches. Identify HPE FlexFabric and FlexNetwork switches that carry IntelliSpace PACS traffic.
Update firmware. Apply the HPE fix for CVE-2024-22439 in a Philips coordinated window.
Lock management access. Allow switch management only from a dedicated network and named accounts.
