CISA published advisory ICSMA-19-192-01 on July 11, 2019, for the Philips Holter 2010 Plus, all versions. Philips reported the issue itself.

CVE-2019-10968 is a use of an obsolete function (CWE-477) that may allow system options that were not purchased to be enabled. CISA calls the result a product feature escalation. The CVSS v3 base score is 1.9: local access, high attack complexity, high privileges required, and a low integrity impact with no effect on confidentiality or availability.

This is a licensing bypass more than a patient safety problem. Someone already holding high privileges on the workstation could switch on paid features. Clinical data stays out of reach under the published vector.

The login worked; the authorization did not follow through on every object the request names. As the maker, authorize every object reference on the server against the caller, return uniform responses so nothing can be enumerated, and strip internal detail from what the backend returns.
