Philips published a Ripple20 advisory on June 18, 2020. JSOF researchers disclosed 19 zero-day vulnerabilities in the Treck TCP/IP stack that could lead to remote code execution or exposure of sensitive information.
Philips lists the HeartStart Intrepid Monitor/Defibrillator (867172) as affected, a model not sold in the US. A TCP/IP stack is buried deep in firmware and shared across vendors, which is why Ripple20 reached so many device makers at once.
A defibrillator with a network stack has a network attack surface. Know which embedded stacks ship in your products before the next Ripple20 lands.
