Philips published a notice on May 4, 2026 listing FocalPoint (867113) versions earlier than v2.2 as affected by CVE-2026-31431, a Linux kernel vulnerability codenamed Copy Fail.
Philips describes the flaw this way: an unprivileged local user can write four controlled bytes into the page cache of any readable file and use that to gain root. Four bytes is plenty when the target is a setuid binary or a config file root reads.
The exposure needs a local foothold first, so the practical control on FocalPoint is who can get a shell on it. Version 2.2 is the line Philips draws.
