Philips published a Responsible Disclosure advisory on May 1, 2018 for a potential, low-risk security vulnerability in its computed tomography systems. Affected are Brilliance 64 version 2.6.2 and below, Brilliance iCT 4.1.6 and below, Brilliance iCT SP 3.2.4 and below, and Brilliance CT Big Bore 2.3.5 and below.
The MX8000 Dual EXP systems are listed for CWE-798 only, the hard-coded credentials weakness. A password compiled into every unit cannot be rotated by the hospital, so containment falls to who can reach the console and the network.
Philips rated the issue low risk and points customers to service for updates.
