Fresenius published a statement on December 19, 2024 listing the Ivenix Large Volume Pump software SW-0005 5.9.1 and earlier as affected by CVE-2024-6387, the OpenSSH sshd signal handler race condition. Successful exploitation may allow remote control of the pump software. Service pack 5.9.2 fixes it.

The bar is high. An attacker needs network and physical access, and the rarely used Remote Login feature has to be enabled in service mode. On an infusion pump, though, remote control of the software is the outcome that matters, so schedule service pack 5.9.2 for the next maintenance pass.

Install Ivenix LVP service pack 5.9.2, which fixes CVE-2024-6387. Until then keep Remote Login disabled in service mode and limit physical and network access to the pumps.

Install service pack 5.9.2. Upgrade every Ivenix LVP running SW-0005 5.9.1 or earlier to 5.9.2.
Keep Remote Login off. Confirm the service mode Remote Login feature is disabled outside supervised service work.
Restrict pump network access. Place pumps on a segment that only reaches the infusion server and biomed tooling.
