Canon Medical revised its advisory on the Remote Desktop vulnerabilities CVE-2020-0609, CVE-2020-0610 and CVE-2020-0611 on January 15, 2020. The Remote Desktop Client remote code execution flaw, CVE-2020-0611, affects only client-side RDP on Windows 7 and 10.

No Canon imaging equipment is affected. The InnerVision Service Processor and InnerVision Service Processor Firewall on Windows 7 and Windows 10 are listed as affected. The remote service path is exactly where RDP clients live, so it carries the exposure.

Patch the InnerVision Service Processor and Firewall on Windows 7 and 10 for CVE-2020-0611 through Canon service. Limit outbound RDP from those processors to known service endpoints.

Patch the service processors. Apply the Microsoft update to InnerVision Service Processor and Firewall units.
Limit RDP destinations. Allow outbound RDP from the processors only to approved hosts.
Confirm imaging is unaffected. Record Canon's finding that imaging equipment itself is not affected.

Design for field update. And for planned replacement, so an unpatchable unit has a path off the network.
