Canon Medical's security information page on CVE-2022-26809 was last updated on July 4, 2022. The remote code execution vulnerability in the Microsoft RPC runtime may potentially affect Canon CT, MR, VL and XR medical imaging products. UL and NM products block RPC ports and are not affected.

Canon is providing Microsoft update schedules, with CT updates listed for Aquilion Precision V10.10, Aquilion ONE V10.12 and Aquilion Exceed LB V10.9. It recommends blocking ports 135, 139, 445 and 593.

The UL and NM lines show the control that works: a modality that never exposes RPC never needs this patch in a hurry.

Design for field update. And for planned replacement, so an unpatchable unit has a path off the network.
Degrade to safe. A fault drives a defined safe state, never an unexpected stop on a life-sustaining device.
