Boston Scientific published a statement, Revision 1, on September 16, 2020, on the BootHole vulnerability, CVE-2020-10713. The company assessed its devices that use Linux or Windows Secure Boot and rated the risk as low.

BootHole is a buffer overflow in how the GRUB2 bootloader parses its configuration file, letting code run before the operating system loads and undercutting Secure Boot. An attacker needs elevated access first, which drives a low rating.

Patches can be applied at the next scheduled software update, and Boston Scientific says no urgent patching is required. That is a reasonable call for a pre-boot flaw, provided the scheduled update actually ships.
