B. Braun published a notice on February 24, 2021, covering OnlineSuite AP 2.1.2 and 3.0. The suite is delivered with third-party WIBU CodeMeter, affected by CVE-2020-14509, CVE-2020-14513, CVE-2020-14515, CVE-2020-14517, CVE-2020-14519 and CVE-2020-16233, with a top CVSS v3 score of 9.8.
The flaws could allow license forgery, denial of service, possible remote code execution and heap reads. B. Braun says the issue is server-side only and patient safety is not affected.
License managers run as privileged network services on the server they protect. CodeMeter deserves its own patch schedule, separate from the application release cycle.
